i am david brians wellesley 1969/72 in nelson.its like it was never there now.
I"m Geraldine Williams, I grew up at number 3 Wellesley...my dad worked there, his name was Gerald Williams...think he worked in Nelson. I was there from my birth till I turned 13. We left there in the '70's to go & live in South Africa. Lovely to see the photos...brings back lots of memories.
My name is Stephen shannon i will never forget been there. I was there in 1983 the staff were nothing but bullys and animals beating up kids just for the fun of it.
My name is Liz.
We had a caravan on the Links Road, directly behind the sports field.
We would often see people on the field - in all weather conditions.
I remember my family and I standing on the Jetty (now fenced off) at the South Harbour.
I wasn't very old at the time. So that would make it 1977-8 ish.
For some reason this one incident stuck with me.
Some of the 'Nautical School Gang' (- As we called them.)
Were already there and behaving like teenagers do. Messing around & wandering off.
The man supervising was dressed like a PE teacher.
Short to mid shaggy brown or dark hair. About 30 ish. Polyester Tracksuit (Red or blue I think.) Zipped up. With white lines down the arms and legs.
Wearing white Dunlop style Trainers.
He was pointing out various interesting things to the kids.
When he suddenly walked away from the group and towards 2 kids who were hanging about and talking (they were maybe 10 feet from us.)
He was shouting at them. Telling them to move away from us. ( I forget exactly what was said.)
But I do remember my Dad translating when I asked what happened.
Saying that 'because they were living at the special school they weren't allowed to mix or chat with us and had to stay with the teachers.
- I don't honestly remember them do anything wrong.
But I do remember the "PE Teacher" going ballistic. He pushed 1 boy so hard he almost fell over. The other boy was grabbed and pulled towards the group. He said something to the teacher. - Hang on, stop it or I'm coming. Something like that - I'm guessing.
Next thing I saw was him slap the boy hard across the face and drag him by the arms.
He couldn't have been more than 14 ish.
Thin with Brown Jumper, Jeans and black shoes.
I was horrified and to this day I still remember it.
I often wondered what happened to that boy.
Anyone know him or remember this happening ?
My name is Jimmy Wilson- Tug Wilson. I was in Drake house and in the seamanship shop.
I was there from July 1973 - October14th 1974. I was also in the drum and bugle band. leading gp drummer.
The night before I left Wellesley They recorded me playing all drum and bugle marches.
Wellesley to me was the best place for me and the only place thzt I'd known as home.
